Opening its doors to the public on June 29, 1996, the Fukuoka City Public Library, a multi-function facility of the City of Fukuoka promoting the concept of lifelong learning, is comprised of the Library Division, the City Archive Division and the Film Archive Division. We are of a new prototype of a general library with annexed facilities such as our Movie Hall Cine-la and our Mini Theater. With outside parking for up to 300 bicycles and 143 cars, our ferro concrete 5 story building has a capacity to store up to 2 million volumes of paper material including books and magazines and up to 20,000 2,000 ft. reels of 35mm film.
